The New Club House.
The Club-House has recently undergone a major refurbishment, which
was necessary due to the fact that it was going to fall down soon
if nothing was done!
But it did last well considering that it has stood against the
ravages of the Atlantic Ocean for nearly half a century.

This is a view of the beach from the balcony, which can be seen
below
The building is owned by the local council, and part of the
lower level of the building is actually the public toilets,
which meant
that a major share of the funding for the project came from the
council.
However, the Club had to find a substantial amount of money for
the work to go ahead. This took years to achieve and was successful
mostly due to the tireless efforts of our club Chairman.
The work took up the whole of the 2005 season, which meant
that we had no club facilities at all last year. But, with
the new
build now finished, it has been worth the wait.
Where
we used to do all our indoor training, meetings, changing to
go in the sea etc; all in one room, we now have......
- separate wetrooms for male and female changing and showers,
- a big room kept dry to do all other activities,
- a balcony on the beach side of the club
- a separate room for First Aid and the RNLI lifeguards
- a store room to keep our equipment.
All this has been a great improvement over the facilities we
used to endure, and we hope it will perhaps attract potential
new members
to come and join us!
