About our Members
As
with most Surf Life Saving Clubs, our membership consists of
Seniors, Juniors and Nippers.
NIPPERS.
There are more Nippers than Juniors and Seniors, and are within the age
group 8 to 12.

We have had a waiting list of youngsters to join the nipper group, which
shows how popular the club is for kids in this area.
Pictured are a few of the nippers
training in the pool
They benefit in a big way from being involved in the club by gaining
the knowledge and confidence to be able to recognise the conditions of
the sea and what that means in terms of both the dangers and having fun.
They
learn very quickly at this age which helps them and our
instructors when they move on to be Juniors.
They are encouraged to take exams which helps enormously with their water
abilities, and they all enjoy taking part.
Nippers usually meet on Friday evenings during the season, with the help
of other club members and any Parents who wish to have a go and get wet!
JUNIORS.
The Juniors can be extremely helpful in the running of the club as they
retain their knowledge and sea skills learned through nippers, and as
they grow, their confidence and abilities improve a great deal.
Again, exams are promoted not only to help with their water work, but
also they get to be involved in Resuscitation training and First Aid.
SENIORS
By the time they are 16 and move up to be club Seniors, they are extremely
competent in the sea (more so than us oldies)and are encouraged to
go for the top award, the NARS Surf Lifeguard Award, which is a requirement
for all professional lifeguards.
The
Juniors and Seniors usually have their club meetings on Sunday
morning at the club-house in the season, and it depends on
the state of the sea and the tide as to what we get up to.
Meetings
and training during the winter months is swimming in the indoor
pool at Camelford Leisure Centre.
